About Cooper's Cave FCU

The Greater Glens Falls area is rich in Early American History. In 1824, James Fenimore Cooper, while writing his novel, The Last of the Mohicans, used the bridge that connected South Glens Falls and Glens Falls. Cooper decided to use the cave beneath the bridge in his novel, the now-famous Cooper’s Cave. The Cave and the area are now part of New York’s Independence Trail.

Cooper’s Cave Federal Credit Union, created by Finch Pruyn employees and chartered in 1958, remains a not-for-profit institution owned by you, our member. Cooper’s Cave FCU presently serves approximately 2,450 members and holds approximately $20 million in assets.

Membership in this credit union is open to residents of Warren County and Washington County, employees of businesses located in Warren County and Washington County, those who attend church or school in Warren County and Washington County, and those who volunteer their time with an organization based in Warren County and Washington County. Family members of existing members are also eligible to join. Family includes spouses, partners, children, grandchildren, parents, grandparents, and siblings.

We subscribe to the policy of “once a member, always a member”. If you move, relocate, or change jobs, your account moves with you. Our credit union is a member-owned, not-for-profit organization whose objective is to meet the needs of our members through professional, prompt, courteous service with a personal touch.

Your money is safe with us. The National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), administered by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a U.S. government agency (The strongest of all federal deposit insurance funds), federally insures your savings to at least $250,000.

We are governed by an elected board of volunteer directors who set the policies and procedures for the operation of the credit union.

The mission of our credit union is to provide sound financial services within a cooperative principle. We believe in the Credit Union philosophy of “People Helping People”, “Not for profit, not for charity, but for service” and “America’s Credit Unions-Where people are worth more than money”. Our focus is on our membership. We belong to you!
